My head is still spinning after two intense, but very fun days at the UNC Social Software Symposium. The discussion was great, there were no major problems (other than being locked out of the building on day 2), and everyone seemed to leave with new ideas, questions or friendships. Since I have to rapidly transition back into paper-writing mode, it will be a little while before I fully analyze the symposium materials. However, I wanted to share some of the raw materials that you might find interesting:
- Outstanding research questions (tons of cool RQ’s from symposium participants).
- Detailed notes from every sessions (agenda here)
- How do we define a social networks site (SNS)?
- How do we value tags in a tagging system (like del.icio.us, Flickr)
- Blog posts/liveblogging of the Symposium. – Alice Marwick gets the prize for best notes.
The symposium gathered over 35 researchers, academics, experts and practicioners from around the country and academia to think about social software for two days. As is always the case when you’re organizing these things, I only wish I got to spend more time talking with and meeting the attendees. All in all, great fun – thank you to everyone for coming.

Thanks for putting all those links together. Definitely going to have fun reading through these.
What do you think are the major take-aways from the conference? What is most applicable to entrepreneurs/marketers the short term? In the long term?
