Linking Unit Structures
Interesting links from the past few days:
- Ed Chi of Xerox PARC recently presented the research talk Enhancing the Social Web through Augmented Social Cognition research. Ed’s team is doing great research - and my ClaimID co-conspirator Terrell is working with them this summer.
- Alice Marwick just published the paper To catch a predator? The MySpace moral panic in First Monday. Alice talked through this paper at the iConference Doc Colloquium - it was fascinating and controversial.
- Over at SearchEngineLand, Danny Sullivan is pushing to allow Firefox 3 users to choose their own default search engine. Like Sullivan, I’m very skeptical of the FF+Google relationship - I can only imagine how many ways Firefox 3 will send our personal data to Google.
- Scott Kveton explains why he has withdrawn his support of the DataPortability project. DataPortability can keep up its shell game for Techcrunch crowd, but moves like Kveton’s (and Chris Messina’s) have tremendous influence among people actually building stuff.
