Wayne Sutton, one of my esteemed guest lecturers in last night’s (penultimate) Technologies of Friendship class, streamed and recorded the lectures via Ustream.tv. If you’d like to check them out, here’s a link – and I’ve embedded the video.

Thank you again to my speakers – Brian, Wayne, Dave and Abe. We had great conversation and I’m pretty sure we could have kept going for a few more hours (which is saying something for being in class on 8:30PM on a Monday). To find out more about the speakers and their projects, check out the following:
- Brian Russell, founder of Carrboro Coworking (about, videos).
- Dave Johnson of Sun Microsystems, Roller Weblogger, and BarCampRDU and the Apache Software Foundation.
- Wayne Sutton of SocialCarolina, 30Threads and BarCampRDU
- Abe Crystal, who recently defended his Ph.D. and is working on a startup named Ruzuku
Thanks again to my speakers for a great set of talks.
Fred Stutzman is a doctoral student, researcher and teaching fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Information and Library Science. He studies how people use social media.

This was a very enjoyable class. The topics bridged our semester-long class discussions with practical applications of social media technologies in the Raleigh-Chapel Hill area. I also found one of Brian’s recommendations useful: a great visual information management program called “TheBrain”.
