Facebook Adopts OpenID

via Inside Facebook:

Less than three months after joining the OpenID Foundation’s board as a sustaining corporate member (i.e. putting its weight and financial support behind OpenID), Facebook has just announced at the “technology tasting” event this afternoon at its Palo Alto headquarters that users will soon be able to log in to Facebook with their OpenID.

Very cool!

  1. This is excellent and somewhat surprising particularly with Facebook Connect popping up all over the place.

BTW: Are you attending IR10 in October?

  2. Have you looked at the Pasek et al. and Karpinski articles about Facebook Usage and GPA on FirstMonday? There’s a bit of a statistical duel going on. I’m tempted to look at my information overload study data to see if the UNC data can give us any further insight into the matter, though I’m afraid my sample is also not a representative one, as Karpinski and Pasek accuse each other of having.
